| - The aim is to study mechanisms of genesis, progresion and possible therapies of important diseases. To fulfill this aim laboratories from 6 institutes of biomedical research will focus their attention on neoplastic processes (cytokinetics of normal and tumor cells, role of oncogenes, recognition of tumor cells), immunity disorders (autoimmune diseases, alergy), diseases of gastrontestinal, cardiovascular (ischemia, hypertension) and nervous system (hypoxia and ischemia, Alzheimer disease, derangment of biological rhythms, epilepsy, trauma, pain, aging), derangements of metabolism (obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, inborn errors, mitochondrial diseases) and on toxicology including influences of environment. A broad spectrum of methods ranging from molecular genetics to behavioral testing as well as of models (isolated cells, cell and tissue cultures, tissue slices, isolated organs, experimental animals) will be used to analyze these diseases. - Cílem projektu je studium mechanismů vzniku, progrese a možné léčby závažných onemocnění. K tomuto cíli bude pozornost laboratoří 6 ústavů biomedicinského výzkumu zaměřena na nádorové bujení (cytokinetika normálních a nádorových buněk, úloha onkogenů, rozpoznání nádorových buněk imunitním systémem), poruchy imunity (autoimunní choroby, alergie), nemoci gastrointestinálního, kardiovaskulárního (ischemie, hypertenze) a nervového systému (hypoxie a ischemie, Alzheimerova choroba, poruchy biologických rytmů, epilepsie, trauma, bolest, stárnutí), poruchy metabolismu (obesita, diabetes, ateroskleroza, vrozené poruchy metabolismu, mitochondriální poruchy) a na toxikologii včetně vlivů zevního prostředí. K analýze těchto onemocnění bude využita široká škála metod (od molekulární genetiky po studium chování) a modelů (izolované buňky, buněčné i tkáňové kultury, tkáňové řezy, izolované orgány, pokusná zvířata).

| - Byly získány unikátní poznatky o patofyziologii a buněčné biologii řady závažných onemocnění (např. epilepsie, hypertenze, obezita, diabetes, střevní záněty, fatální encefalopati, HIV a různé nádory) užitečné pro jejich prevenci a léčbu. (cs)
