  • Byla studována hodnověrnost určení stáří polní populace hraboše polního (Microtus arvalis) kalibračními rovnicemi získanými využitím laboratorně chovaných jedinců. Na určení stáří polní populace chytané opakovaně do živolovných pastí byly užity kalibrační rovnice (specifické dle pohlaví) získané v laboratorních podmínkách vycházející ze závislosti hmotnosti oční čočky na věku. Při porovnání zjištěného věku a období, po které byl jedince odchytáván, byla zjištěna tendence k podhodnocování skutečného stáří. Tato chyba byla častější u samic a jedinců odchytávaných delší období. Toto může být způsobeno vyšší růstovou rychlostí v laboratorních podmínkách, a to zejména samic a starších jedinců. Období prvního odchytu nemělo vliv na přítomnost této chyby. Doporučovali bychom v populačních studiích založených na určení věkové struktury buď vložení více než jedné proměnné do tohoto modelu, nebo užití jiné metody určení věku. (cs)
  • The reliability of laboratory-derived calibration curves for age determination of field individuals of the common vole, Microtus arvalis was examined. The sex-specific calibration curves for age determination based on the relationship between eye lens mass and age derived in the laboratory were applied to a live-trapped field population of common vole. When comparing the individual’s age to the length of its trapping history, we found a slight tendency for underestimation of real age. These errors were observed slightly more in females and in individuals captured over a longer time. This could mean that growth rates in captive animals, especially older ones, and in females are greater than those from the field. The month of first trapping has no effect on the presence of the error. We suggest that, in population studies with a special concern for ageing individuals over the whole life span, other methods or this method with more than one predictor should be examined.
