Description	In nocturnal rodents released into darkness, the time interval whenanimals are active is designated as subjective night. Duration of thesubjective night is reflected in the time window enabling high c-fosphotoinduction within the suprachiasmatic nucleus well as that enablingphotic resetting of the circadian system. Both these markers lead to thesame stimation of subjective night duration, which is shorter under thelong photoperiod and longer under the short photoperiod.
