Description	The distribution, disease impact, changes with time in the structure of pathogenicity and the fungicide resistance of cucurbit powdery mildew (CPM) species, Golovinomyces cichoracearum s.l. (Gc) and Podosphaera xanthii (Px), were surveyed on cucurbitaceous crops in the Czech Republic between 2001 and 2007. Gc was the predominant mildew present, whilst Px occurred only sporadically. In total, 21 different pathotypes (13 Gc, 8 Px) and 134 races (86 Gc, 48 Px) of the fungi were found. The effectiveness of four fungicides, namely - Rubigan 12 EC (fenarimol), Karathane LC (dinocap), Topsin M 70 WP (thiophanate-methyl), and Ortiva (azoxystrobin) was screened using a modified leaf-disc bioassay. Significant differences in both fungicide effectiveness and from year to year were found.
