Description	We tested the role of semiochemicals produced by the Spruce bark beetle and the colonized tree. Medetera predators (Diptera) are attracted to both compounds of the bark beetle pheromone (ipsdienol and cis-verbenol), Thanasimus (Coleoptera) only to Ipsdienol. Both predators and the Spruce bark beetle are attracted to tree monoterpenes produced in their respective preferred stage of the tree deterioration We tested the role of semiochemicals produced by the Spruce bark beetle and the colonized tree.
