Description
| - A new type of AC electroosmotic micropumps has been recently reported. They are suggested to be powerful tools for electrolyte transportation in various micro- and nanofluidic systems. These micropumps are driven by a low amplitude AC electric field imposed on systems of 3D electrodes with step. It was found that the net velocity attained in microchannels can increase up to several hundreds microns per second. Hence, the AC electroosmotic micropumps have a high potential in microfluidic applications. In this contribution, we present a comparison between non-equilibrium and equilibrium mathematical model describing transport processes above microfluidic systems that contain 3D electrodes.
