| Description
| - In the last decade there has been a startling growth of the occurrence of infectious diseases (ID's) in developed countries. The risk of spread of pathogenic organisms to a new territory and the risk of onset and spread of a new infectious diseases is multiplied by the immense mobility and migration of population in the modern world. Last but not least, there is a treat of the misuse of infectious agents for the purpose of bioterorism. New, important aspect of the field of ID's is the knowledge of therole of infectious agents in the pathogenesis of diseases considered to be non-infectious, such as malignant tumors oř atherosderosis. It is important to intensify the current research of ID's and their agents in the CR as welí as to increase the co-operation of teams that are devoted to these problems. It is the purpose of this proposal to create a joint team of promoters and postgraduate students from the 1. MF UK, IHBT and IMG AS CR, that are involved in the basic or clinical research of ID's (en)
- V posledních desetiletí došlo k alarmujícímu nárůstu výskytu infekčních nemocí v rozvinutých zemích. Riziko šíření patogenů na nová území a riziko vzniku a šíření zcela nových infekčních onemocnění je umocněné enormní mobilitou a migrací obyvatelstva v moderním světě a v neposlední řadě i hrozbou zneužití infekčních agens pro účely bioterorismu. Novým, důležitým aspektem problematiky infekčních nemocí je v součastnosti poznání role infekčních agens v patogenezi chorob pokládaných za neinfekční, jako například maligních tumorů nebo aterosklerózy. V České republice je třeba zintenzivnit dosavadní výzkum infekčních nemocí a jejich původců a rovněž prohloubit spolupráci týmů, které se této problematice již věnují. V rámci navrhovaného projektu by mělo dojít k vytvoření společného týmu školitelů a posgraduálních studentů z 1.LF UK, ÚHKT, ÚMG AV ČR, kteří se zaměřují na základní i klinický výzkum infekčních nemocí a jejich původců.
