Description	Theoretical and experimental research concerns mechanical response of deformable bodies, structures and continua to loads and environmental influences in interaction with physical fields. It aims to understand, model and use the studied phenomena for sustainable development by extending lifetime of structures, increasing structural economy, fitness for purpose, reliability and safety and developing better methods of structural diagnostics and failure analysis. This research will resolve a complete set of problems of fracture and damage mechanics, mechanics of composite materials, micromechanics of smart materials, theory of structures, stochastic mechanics, interaction between deformable bodies and media, aeroelasticity and seismicity, identification of dynamic systems, mechanics of thin-walled structures, soil mechanics, computational mechanics and interdisciplinary problems of historic structures, biomechanics and public databases. (en) Teoretický i experimentální výzkum se zaměří na mechanickou odezvu těles, konstrukcí a kontinua na zatížení a vlivy prostředí v interakci s fyzikálními poli. Cílem je poznání, modelování a využití jevů, které přispějí k udržitelnému životu prodloužením životnosti konstrukcí a ke zvýšení jejich hospodárnosti, bezpečnosti, vhodnosti pro daný účel i spolehlivosti zlepšením diagnostiky a analýzy poruch. Výzkum vyřeší ucelený okruh problémů mechaniky poškozování a lomu, mechaniky kompozitních materiálů, mikromechaniky inteligentních materiálů, teorie konstrukcí, stochastické mechaniky soustav a prostředí, interakce prostředí a deformovatelných těles, aeroelasticity a seismicity, identifikace dynamických systémů, mezních stavů, stability a životnosti imperfektních tenkostěnných soustav, mechaniky zemin, počítačové mechaniky a interdisciplinárních problémů biomechaniky, veřejně přístupných databází a záchrany evropských historických konstrukcí.
