Description
  • We have generated antibodies to sperm and in our panel of mouse monoclonal antibodies to human spermatozoa several antibodies - Hs-3, Hs-16, Hs-23, Hs-9, Hs-31, Hs-32 and Hs-37 - reacted with human seminal plasma. These antibodies were characterized in detail using indirect immunofluorescence, Western blot techniques and MALDI TOF sequence analysis and recognized apolipoprotein J (clusterin), semenogelin I, secretory actin-binding protein (SABP) and enolase I. Proteins detected by our monoclonal antibodies can be useful in investigation of the mechanisms involved in sperm pathology and also represent candidates for diagnostic markers during sperm quality assessement. Further experiments concerning the role of above mentioned proteins in capacitation, acrosomal reaction and sperm-egg binding are in progress.
