Description
  • *The paper deals with optimization of 2-stage turbocharged large-bore SI engine in terms of steady state performance. Simulation tools are applied to achieve that. Different mixture composition concepts (fresh air + external cooled EGR), EGR circuit layouts (HP, LP, combined) and control means (throttle, blow-by, waste-gate, VGT) are fully optimized under steady state operation – for each variant, optimal compressor/turbine sizes are found by means of genetic algorithm. Optimal variants are compared to find the overall best variant.
