Description	The chapter analyses socio-economic and political consequences of development in metropolitan areas in the Czech Republic with the emphasis on the socio-spatial intra-metropolitian differences . It analyzes four largest metropolitan areas in – Praha, Brno, Ostrava and Pilsen. It proves that suburbanization and socio-spatial polarization are already present in the Czech metropolises, but its scope is relatively modest so far to have important social and political consequences. Analýza se soustřeďuje na výzkum sociálně-prostorových rozdílů uvnitř metropolitních oblastí. Výsledky ukazují, že ačkoliv suburbanizace a sociálně-prostorová polarizace jsou v českých metropolitních oblastech již zřetelně identifikovatelné, rozsah těchto procesů je relativně omezený a nemá dosud významné sociální a politické důsledky.
