| - The aim of the study was to investigate the competition for food resources among of introduced white-tailed deer and other deer species in Central Bohemia. Interspecific foraging relationships were assessed on the basis of the diet composition of individual deer species and their dietary overlap. The composition of WTD winter diet indicated a limitation in good quality food resources. One of the causes of the low quality of its winter diet was depletion of browse, a resource which was exploited by roe, red and fallow deer. In contrast to WTD conifer needles (an indicator of a constraint in the availability of food resources) were an important dietary component of fallow and red deer only during periods of snow cover. This study demonstrates potential competition for food resources between WTD and other species of deer. A shortage of high quality food resources may be one of the mechanisms by which WTD population growth is constrained in the Dobříš Forest.

- Studie se zabývá otázkou kompetice o potravní zdroje mezi introdukovaným jelencem běloocasým a dalšími druhy jelenovitých ve středních Čechách. Mezidruhové potravní vztahy byly hodnoceny na základě analýzy potravy jednotlivých druhů jelenů a překrývání jejich potravních nik. Složení zimní potravy jelence indikovalo omezené zásoby kvalitní potravy (listy ostružiníku). Jednou z příčin nízké kvality potravy bylo využívání kvalitních složek srncem, daňkem a jelenem. Na rozdíl od jelence, jehličí (indikátor nekvalitní potravní nabídky) bylo součástí potravy daňka a jelena jen v období se sněhovou pokrývkou. Studie ukázala na možnost kompetice o potravní zdroje mezi jelencem a ostatními druhy jelenovitých. Nedostatek kvalitní potravy může být jednou z příčin, která omezuje růst populace jelence v oblasti Dobříše. (cs)
