  • Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO) are important signalling molecules that participate in plant physiological processes and plant responses to stress factors. NO participates in germination, plant growth, stomata movements and polen development. Potential enzyme sources of NO in plants include nitrate reductase, NO synthase, xanthinoxidase and nitrite:NO reductase. We studied the role of NO and reactive nitrogen species in reaction to biotrophic pathogen, osmotic stress, toxic metals and high temperature. The main experimental model used was three genotypes of tomato, differing in their resistance to biotrophic pathogen Oidium neolycopersici.
