Description
  • Rotor systems supported by active magnetic bearings are typical mechatronic device, in which are integrated active control, diagnostics and regulation for ensuring the optimal operating conditions. In order to correctly diagnose faults, the basic dynamic behaviour of the rotor system supported by active magnetic bearings with transverse fatigue crack must be first studied, since many differences in the re-sponses between conventional rotor systems and active rotor systems exist. The submitted paper presents investiga-tion of dynamical effects of the rotor system with breathing crack. The breathing crack model uses the sign of stress intensity factor along the crack edge to decide the amount of closure of crack. Through computer simulations the influ-ence of breathing crack on the steady-state response of rotor system on excitation by centrifugal forces of discs imbalances is shown.
