Description
  • The described procedure is intended for investigation of the wave propagation via the rotor supported by hydrodynamic bearings into the stationary part excited by impacts of the discs against the casing. Up to now such analysis has not been presented. Calculation of the hydraulic forces acting in the bearings is based on solving the Reynolds' equation. In cavitated regions pressure of the medium is assumed to be constant. Normal component of the impact force can be determined either by means of the Hertz theory ( in siplier cases ) or by a precalculated force-displacement relationship. Friction in the contact area is assumed to be of a Coulomb type. To solve the equation of motion a modified Newmark method has been adopted. The results of computer simulations show that the influence of the hydrodynamic bearings and the impacts on the rotor can be analyzed together and that the proposed procedure is numerically stable.
