  • The physical or chemical modification of powder surfaces is a method for the preparation of highly functional and specific surface-characterized materials. High functionality and good characterization are important both in effective improvement and new service applications of the original powder. Furthermore, the importance of the powder surface modification is also recognized from the point of view of being capable of improving and controlling the various powder properties, for example, dispersability,wettability, rheological properties, optical properties, electrical properties, electronic properties, reactivity, catalytic activity, and blendability. The concept of microfabrication on powder surfaces can be used in many industrial fields, e.g., in p igments, printing inks, paints, foods, pharmaceuticals, detergents, cosmetics, dental materials, implant materials, copy toners, ceramics, cements, electrorheological materials, and metallurgy, etc
