Description	In microalgal biotechnology, aimed to the production of biomass, high-value products, or even bio-fuels, has prompted the application of on-line measurements for monitoring growth and obtaining rapid evidence of unfavourable conditions affecting the performance of outdoor cultures. The aim of this chapter is to provide a simple, practical guide to the use of chlorophyll fluorescence for microalgal biotechnologists who wish to apply this technique in microalgal mass cultures, both in field and laboratory studies.
