Description
  • The experiment (J. Chen et al., Phys. Rev. B45 (1992) 3636) finds destabilization of the perpendicular magnetization in a Fe(001) bilayer on Ag(001). We present a semi-empirical tight-binding model investigating the phenomenon. We consider the p(3x3) oxygen overlayer to study the low coverage case, respectively. Our results suggest that some departure from ideal ferromagnetic structure might be responsible for the phenomenon.
