  • Mouse polyomavirus minor capsid proteins were found to be a very potent inducers of apoptosis dependent on caspase activation. Immuno-electron microscopy showed the minor proteins, VP2 and VP3, to be asociated with damaged membranes of the endoplasmic reticulum, nuclear envelope and mitochondria.
