Description
  • Project deals with the problems of preventive protection of important ornamental woody plant horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) against invasive pest, the horse chestnut leaf miner Cameraria ohridella. The solution is based on an existence of unique clone (Mertelik06) of horse chestnut with resistant behaviour to Cameraria ohridella. This clone in form of grafted plants is being kept at RILOG Pruhonice. New multiplication procedures will be developed and applied for propagation of horse horse chestnut clone (Mertelik 06) and the background of the resistance will be explained. Results of this project should not only increase the level of knowledge of plants natural resistance to harmful organisms, but utilizing the plants of horse chestnut with resistant behaviour to Cameraria ohridella in new plantations should also improve the health condition of this genus in Europe.
