Description
| - Centre is proposed to pursue multidisciplinary research in photosynthesis, focusing on changes of structure and function of photosynthetic apparatus in response to fluctuating irradiance, atmosphere composition and nutrient supply. Cyanobacteria, algaeand higher plants will be used in parallel to investigate selected mechanisms in photosynthesis. Biophysical, biochemical and molecular biology approaches will be combined to investigate physiological, ecological and biotechnological problems. Experiencegained will be used in ecological models of plant response to global climate changes. Particular attention will be paid to the Central European forest, lake and wetland ecosystems. Using already established contacts to the industry, research will alsoproduce original instrumentation and methods for biotechnology and precision agriculture. A further technological innovation will remain preferred task of the Centre. In return it will raise important new questions to be answered by fundamental research. (en)
- Centrum bude sloužit komplexnímu výzkumu změn struktury a funkce fotosyntetického aparátu rostlin v prostředí s měnící se ozářeností, složením atmosféry a dostupností živin. Výzkumem sinic, řas a vyšších rostlin se získají poznatky pro pochopení molekulárních mechanismů fotosyntetických pochodů, poznání struktur, v nichž se tyto procesy uskutečňují, a pro upřesnění ekologických modelů globálních změn klimatu. Výzkum povede rovněž k navržení nových metod a zařízení pro biotechnologie a pokročilé zemědělství. Zavedené biofyzikální, biochemické a molekulárně biologické přístupy budou využívány i pro zkoumání otázek fyziologických, ekologických a biotechnologických. Holistický přístup v projektech zahrnujících současně více stránek téhož problému bude kompenzovat sklon k nadměrné specializaci a vychovávat schopnost myšlení v širších souvislostech. Vývoj nových přístrojů a biotechnologických postupů bude mezi předními cíly a zpětně povede i k formulování zásadních otázek pro základní výzkum centra.
