| Description
| - The Center for Computational Linguistics provides common grounds for theoretical research in the area of Computational Linguistics, especially in the area of joint research in speech and natural language processing. The four Institutions forming the Center will collaborate in new ways in a more tightly connected manner that would not be possible if they operate as separate institutions, even if they do work on similar topics in their other research projects. The goal of the Center is to enable such cooperation, specifically among young researchers pursuing their graduate studies. The individual research areas covered by the Center include theoretical study of spoken and written language, dialog systems, interconnection of spoken and written language processing, natural language generation, machine translation and lexical resources necessary for carrying out the aforementioned research. The results will be published through the field’s standard channels, including the annotated corpora and lexica. (en)
- Předmětem činnosti Centra je společný teoretický výzkum v oboru počítačové (matematické) lingvistiky, a to zejména v oblasti kombinace zpracování psaného a mluveného jazyka, která bude podle našeho názoru této oblasti již v brzké době dominovat. Na tomto výzkumu budou těsně spolupracovat zakládající subjekty, které se v rámci svých Výzkumných záměrů a jiných výzkumných projektů zabývají různými aspekty zpracování přirozeného jazyka. Cílem Centra je prohloubit spolupráci zúčastněných subjektů a zefektivnit tak proces výzkumu v oblasti automatického zpracování přirozeného jazyka. Konkrétně se jedná o teoretické zpracování reprezentace promluv, propojení zpracování mluvené řeči a porozumění jazyku, strojový překlad, extrakce informací, generování jazyka a tvorba anotovaných korpusů a slovníků nezbytných pro řešení výše uvedených úloh. Výsledky Centra budou publikovány v oboru obvyklým způsobem; korpusy pak budou plně veřejně dostupné prostřednictvím světových distributorů lingvistických zdrojů.

| - Centrum komputační lingvistiky přispělo na poli automatického zpracování přirozených jazyků mnoha vynikajícími objevy např. v rozpoznávání mluvené řeči nebo ve strojovém překladu. Týmy mladých výzkumníků Centra navíc vytvořily mnoho elektronických jazykových korpusů, které mohou být používány v budoucnosti pro výzkum a vývoj zdokonalených modelů, metod a algoritmů v oboru počítačové lingvistiky.
