Description
| - The goal of the research programme of the proposed Center for Environmetal Microbiology is to increase the understanding of microbial communities (fungi, bacteria etc.) as a complex functional unit, to elucidate the critical interactions that regulate community activities, the degradation (fate) and bioavailibility of environmentally important pollutants under natural conditions as well as their effect on the structure and function of microbial community. On the molecular level the adaptation mechanismsas a response to stress factors (climatic changes, pollutants etc.) will be addressed. The research programme is characterized by a multiscale approach - gene, oragnisms, community, natural habitat, stress conditions - and a multidisciplinary one- microbial ecology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry and molecular genetics. An important goal of the program is to make a key contribution to the sustainable developmnet of our society. (en)
- Projekt rozvíjí základní teoretický a experimentální výzkum vazeb mezi funkcí, diverzitou a strukturou mikrobiálního společenstva v půdě s dopadem na stabilitu ekosystému, jeho resistenci a resilienci v případě jeho narušení. Důraz výzkumu je kladen na ty mikrobiální skupiny, které výrazným způsobem ovlivňují globální procesy v biosféře a vytváření životního prostředí, zejména se bude jednak o skupiny zodpovědné za dekomposiční procesy v půdě, včetně těch, které jsu klíčové pro odbourávání polutantů a dekontaminaci půd a klíčových skupin determinujících transformace uhlíku v půdách a dále pak skupiny zodpovědné za produkci skleníkových plynů. Cílem je vytvořit na bázi již existujícího vysoce kvalitního výzkumu vědecké a školící pracoviště, které budeplně integrováno v mezinárodním kontextu (EU, USA).
