| - Identification of sources of contamination in selected areas of Namibia (dust fall-out from mining operations and from the Tsumeb smelter, SO2 emissions from the smelter). Quantification of atmospheric dispersion of pollutants depending on the distance from the sources, elaboration of the meteorological model of dispersion and its verification by dust and SO2 sampling using passive samplers. Delimitation of contaminated areas and groundwater reservoirs, assessment of the impact of contamination on the environment and on the health of the population based on a comparison with International standards for soils, vegetation and drinking water. Speciation of metals and metalloids in soils using sequential analyses and isotope compositions of Pb, Cu and Zn, modeling of the solubility and bioaccessibility of pollutants. Geochemical modeling of the dispersion and attenuation of pollutants in groundwater. Assessment of the impact of pollution on plants ecosystems. Assessment of contaminated areas and groundwater from the viewpoint of site, urban and land-use planning. (en)
- Identifikace zdrojů kontaminace ve vybraných hornických oblastech Namibie (prach z důlních operací, odkališť, plynné a pevné emise z huti Tsumeb). Kvantifikace atmosférické disperse polutantů v závislosti na vzdálenosti od zdrojů, vytvoření meteorologického modelu a jeho verifikace monitorováním prašného spadu a emisí SO2 pasivními vzorkovači. Vymezení kontaminovaných území a rozsahu kontaminace podzemních vod, posouzení vlivu kontaminace na životní prostředí a na zdraví lidí na základě srovnání výsledků s mezinárodními environmentálními standardy pro půdy, hospodářské plodiny a pitnou vodu. Speciace kovů a polokovů v půdách sekvenční analýzou a posouzení jejich pohybu v půdním profilu s použitím izotopického složení olova, mědi a zinku, experimentální modelování rozpustnosti a biopřístupnosti polutantů.- Geochemické modelování disperze a ředění polutantů v podzemních vodách. Posouzení vlivu polutantů na rostlinné ekosystémy. Posouzení kontaminovaných území z hlediska územního plánování a priorit rekultivačních prací.

| - Project yielded numerous new findings on contaminant dispersion in sub-Saharan Africa connected with mining and processing activities. These results have great potential to contribute on improve the quality of life of the local population. Fourteen papers were published in highly rated journals and were presented to public and students on international meetings and workshops. (en)
- Projekt přinesl řadu nových poznatků o šíření kontaminantů v souvislosti s důlní a zpracovatelskou činností v oblasti subsaharské Afriky, které přispějí ke zlepšení kvality života místního obyvatelstva. Výstupy ve formě publikací považujeme za velice úspěšné jednak vzhledem k jejich počtu, a také s ohledem na renomé časopisů. Výsledky byly také prezentovány na řadě konferencí a workshopu v Africe.
