Description	Theatres had become effective channels of communication and a means of encouragement for the Czech people during WWI. Theatrical productions were thus designed to arouse national consciousness at times of economic difficulties and political paralysis. Shakespearean dramas occupied a significant space in the realm of theatre, and the Shakespeare festival in 1916 was one of the greatest theatrical achievements aiming to display the Czech pro-Allied attitude of the time. This project mainly attempts to explore the Anglo-American theatre repertoire in the Czech lands during WWI. Chronological and thematic perspectives presented here are used to argue that the English and American plays performed at that time specifically reflected the Czech world of politics. Furthermore, based on the audience response theory, this project attempts to trace specific aspects of particular Anglo-American productions in the Czech national context. The project highlights the centenary of the outbreak of WWI. Results are summarised in the monograph, mapping the reception of Anglo-American productions. (en) Během první světové války působilo divadlo jako účinný komunikační kanál a prostředek povzbuzení. V době ekonomických nesnází a politické paralýzy sloužila divadelní představení k probuzení národního uvědomění. Značný prostor zaujímalo shakespearovské drama. Jedním z nejvýznamnějších divadelních počinů tohoto období se stal Shakespearovský festival (1916), jenž deklaroval souhlasný postoj s politikou států Dohody. Cílem projektu je analýza angloamerického repertoáru českých divadel během první světové války. Hypotéza, že dobové inscenace sloužily jako specifický odraz tehdejšího světa politiky, je rozpracována a ověřována prostřednictvím chronologického a tematického přístupu. Na základě recepční teorie projekt dále usiluje o vysledování charakteristických rysů význačných angloamerických nastudování v českém národním kontextu. Projekt reaguje na blížící se sté výročí vypuknutí první světové války. Klíčové výstupy projektu budou sumarizovány v monografii mapující recepci angloamerických dramat na české divadelní scéně v průběhu první světové války.
