Description	The central theme of the conference is taking the discussion beyond the established boundaries between fields and professions towards finding answers to the questions surrounding the conversion of industrial heritage. The discussion about the reasons for converting industrial heritage bears the potential for exploring new angles and formulating new arguments free of conservationist/heritage nostalgia. The discussion will link architecture, urban studies, and heritage conservation to historical, sociological, psychological, and ecological perspectives...in the spirt of sustainable development. This presentation of different opinions, illustrated with exhibitions of conversion projects created by students, will provide a platform for comparing approaches to the training of architects and professional responsibility in design work oriented towards the adapted new use of industrial objects that no longer serve their original function, as an alternative to standard design and investment work. The conference is intended primarily for doctoral students and is conceived in such a way that it offers a unique opportunity for examining new and international approaches stimulating an exchange of opinions and contacts.
