Description
  • Intracellular differences in contents of glutathione and cysteine in leaves of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) in response to black bean aphid (Aphis fabae) infestation were found. Infested plants had much higher glutathione content in all cell compartments at the site of stylet penetration (up to distance less than 0,05 mm) and also in cells further away from the stylet penetration site (more than 1 cm). The highest increase was in nuclei (to 156% and 66% resp.) Also cystein contents were increased in most cell compartements in place of stylet penetration, but decreased in cells further away fom the site of penetration.
