Description
  • In the field experiments with bread making winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), var. Nela the effects of sulfur fertilization and pesticide treatments on grain yield, grain quality, protein and starch production were studied. Large scale experiments were conducted at highly productive farm in three seasons. The experimental design consisted of the treatments in spring, including a control (no S) and S (20 kg S.ha-1) in combination with pesticide application. Weather conditions, especially intensity of rainfalls and its distribution during the season, mainly in May and June, had the main influence on grain yields (varied from 4,43 to 8,05 t.ha-1 on control variants). Rate of 20 kg S.ha-1 enhanced yields up to 8 % . The pesticide treatment itself increased yields from 4,0 to 10,6% and even to 36% (in wet June 2004) depending on fungi and aphids attacks and S supplement to pesticide up to further 10,2%. Sulfur fertilization enhanced protein production up to 6% or to 24% when applied together with
