  • Patogenní houba Ciboria batschiana (Zopf) Buchwald infikuje žaludy před podzimním sběrem a bez ošetření termoterapií může dojít k významným ztrátám během skladování. Termoterapie, která je časově náročná, drahá a může vyvolat u ošetřených žaludů někdy nežádoucí vedlejší účinky, nemá smysl, pokud není infekce patogenem potvrzena. Proto byla vyvinuta metoda (založená na vizuálním hodnocení skvrn, způsobených houbou C. batschiana na dělohách žaludů, a následném vývoji mycelia na inkubovaných žaludech), která umožní zjistit napadení žaludů hlízenkou během týdne. Na základě toho lze rozhodnout, zda má být aplikována termoterapie. Přípěvek dále popisuje metodu umělé infekce žaludů tekutou kulturou C. batschiana. (cs)
  • The pathogenic fungus Ciboria batschiana (Zopf) Buchwald. infects acorns prior to fall collection and if they are not free of the fungus by thermotherapy they can suffer serious losses during subsequent storage. However, since thermotherapy is time consuming and expensive, and treated acorns sometimes suffer undesirable side effects, its use is not justified without knowing if a seed lot is infested. Accordingly, we developed a method (based on visual assessment of C. batschiana lesions on acorn cotyledons, and subsequent mycelium development on incubated cotyledons) that allows C. batschiana infestation levels to be determined within a week. Accordingly, a decision can be made on the need for thermotherapy of acorn seedlots, i.e. before fall, nursery sowing or long-term, cold storage. Also described is a method for carrying out infection of acorns using liquid cultures of C. batschiana .
