Description
  • The decade of 1948-1958 represents a complicated, not yet reflected and not commented on period in the history of Czech official fine arts. On the one hand, the Czech art community had to face a strong political pressure, vehemently instigated by the Sowiet power. On the other hand, the tendency to realism and conservatism is in line with the European art development in general in the 40s of the 20th century. Anunbiased and thorough survey of this period will disclose various tendencies and aspects of the official culture in the 50s and will reflect on the initial period of the Czech totalitarian culture. The output of the survey will be a catalogue and exhibition. (en)
