Description
  • Magnetic poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-) and poly(glycidyl methacrylate-) based microparticles were prepared by dispersion polymerization in the presence of iron oxide nanoparticles, both commercial and laboratory-made. The polymerization was highly sensitive to even subtle changes in the various reaction parameters involved in the process. Several DNA applications of developed microparticles were described. The sensitivity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in cell detection was negatively affected by some magnetic carriers and compounds used in their preparation. Carboxyl group-containing magnetic microparticles were prepared for isolation of genomic DNA from cell lysates.
