Description
  • The chemical reduction of PdII metal centres previouslydispersed inside moderately crossliked gel-type resinsaffords resin supported metal nanoclusters. The size ofthe obtained nanoparticles (3-5 nm) appears to be remar-kably constant and practically indipendent of the averagenanoporosity of the employed polymer network, which ischiefly dependent on the degree of cross-linking. An expla-nation of these findings is offered , based on the presencein all the investigated resins of domains with the same lowpolymer chain density, where apparently the nucleation andgrowth of the metal nanoparticles preferentially take place.
