Description
| - Magnetism and magnetoelasticity (in particular, high-field magnetoacoustics practically not studied up to now) in rare-earth and uranium intermetallic systems are subjects of the project. We plan to study magnetization, magnetic anisotropy, thermal expansion, magnetostriction and magnetoacoustics in R-T intermetallics (R is a rare-earth metal, T=Fe, Co) with stoichiometries: 2-17 (R2Fe17, R2Co17, R2Fe17-xRux), 1-12 (RFe5Al7) and 1-11 (RCo9Si2, RFe11-xSixCz, RFe11-xGaxCz). Magnetic and acoustic anomalies at metamagnetic phase transitions in uranium intermetallics of the UTX, UT2X2 and U2T2X types (X is a p-element) will be studied as well. Majority of the samples will be prepared as high-quality single crystals. The investigation will combine both bulk and the microscopic methods. The study is directed to intersublattice interaction, the main mechanism determining application potential of these materials. The work on the project will be done in close co-operation with Charles University and laboratories over the world as a continuation of long-time collaboration. (en)
- Předmětem projektu je magnetizmus a magnetoelasticita (zejména magnetoakustické jevy v silných magnetických polích dosud nebyly téměř zkoumány) intermetalických systémů s prvky vzácných zemin a uranu. Hodláme se zaměřit na magnetizaci, magnetickou anizotropii, tepelnou expanzi, amgnetostrikci a magnetoakustické projevy v R – T intermetalikách (R – prvek vzácných zemin, T = Fe, Co) se stoichiometrií 2 – 17 (R2Fe17, R2Co17, R2Fe17-xRux), 1-12 (RFe5Al7) a 1-11 (RCo9Si2, RFe11-xSixCz, RFe11-xGaxCz). U materiálu s uranem budeme zkoumat magnetické a akustické anomálie metamagnetických fázových přechodů v systémech UTX, UT2X2 a U2T2X types (X je p-element). Většina zkoumaných materiálů budou vysoce kvalitní monokrystalické vzorky. Ve výzkumu budou použity jak objemové tak mikroskopické metody. Studium se zaměřuje na mezimřížkové interakce, které jsou hlavním mechanizmem určujícím aplikační potenciál těchto magnetických materiálů. Pro práce na projektu budou využity vztahy dlouhodobé spolupráce s Karlovou universitou především a s dalšími předními laboratořemi ve světě.

| - Cílem projektu bylo studium intermetalických sloučenin s prvky vzácných zemin a uranu. Monokrystaly většiny sloučenin byly vypěstovány poprvé. Kvalitní výzkum sice neobsahuje průlomový objev, ale byly získány cenné výsledky. Bylo publikováno 37 publikací Jimp s dedikací na projekt, z toho 8 ve Phys.Rev.B a 1 v Appl.Phys.Lett. 8 (resp. 1) publikací má dedikaci na 2 (resp.3) projekty GAČR. (cs)
- The aim of the project was the study of rare-earth and uranium intermetallic. Single crystals of most of compounds were grown for the first time. Though the research does not report breaking news, it allowed to researchers obtaining of valuable results. Results were published in 37 papers Jimp, which comprise 8 Phys.Rev.B and 1 Appl.Phys.Lett. 8(1) papers acknowledge 2(3) projects GACR. (en)
