"The aim of the project is to synthesized new gemini surfactants (cationic or anionic) with different kind of spacer (hydrophilic or hydrophobic) differing in polarity and length as well as with different hydrophobic tails. First, self-assembly of a new gemini surfactants in aqueous solutions will be studied. Second step will be to develop novel mixed nanoassemblies based on block polyelectrolyte complexes with oppositely charged gemini surfactants in aqueous media and study their physicochemical properties by LS, SAXS, TEM, AFM and NMR. With regard to their size, structure and the presence of compartmentalized hydrophobic core, the development and studies of the nanoparticles will be focused towards their potential application as new, versatile, nanosized drug delivery vehicles. The behavior of the nanoparticles will be studied for a broad range of system parameters (composition, pH, ionic strength, etc.). Further the antimicrobial activity will be determined for cationic gemini surfactants."@en . . . .
