"Main goal of the project is to develop a multi-parametric magnetic structuroscopy of graphitic cast-iron materials yielding complex quantification of material structure of any unknown cast-iron product (made of a known melt) from a single magneto-inductive measurement. The non-destructive method should supply values of tensile strength, elastic modulus and hardness, and/or information on graphite and pearlite contents in the matrix. This goal will be achieved by proprietary method of Magnetic Adaptive Testing (MAT). MAT is based on complex information about hysteresis of the tested material and it defines material structure indicators, which are always individually optimally adapted for the solved system and task. Preliminary tests indicated the goal of the project to be real, which would mean substantial improvement of nondestructive quality monitoring of cast-iron products.
