"The research project %22Education towards Democratic Citizenship and Europeanism%22 presents an analysis of this type of education in a number of European countries, accentuating the roles of teaching foreign languages and civics and the preparation of teachers for teaching these disciplines meaningfully. On these grounds both university syllabi and textbooks at both primary and secondary school levels should be modified. The individual, specialized tasks, aiming at issues which are very topical in our current context (i.e. Czech national awareness in relation to other nations, ethnic minorities, xenophobia, orientation of values etc.) should help to draw not only general conclusions but should also contribute to the solution of real and specific problems."@en . . . . . . .
