"The chapter introduces different kind of social media and their particulars with focus on knowledge sharing and information education. Social media offer many possibilities in the area of sharing information and data. They can be used for internal communications of an organization, for networking experts from a certain area, for information education etc. It's an environment for communication and relationship building, therefore they shouldn't be strictly considered to be only systems for distribution of news or educational materials. For example, if teaching is done in this environment, it should be perceived and planned differently from teaching using an Learning Management System (LMS). Social media is often used for indirect education, too- e.g. there is no particular page for information education (IE), but IE is partly done via the official Facebook page (FB page) of an organization which follows several different goals. In that case it's necessary to think the strategy trough carefully, choose a suitable form and pay attention to its sttractiveness and suitable graphic design of particular information. Much more often in these cases data visualization in used. Using social media for distributing any information has the advantage that sharing is supported to the maximum extent.
