"Nowadays a growing number of medical facilities and social services focus on the use of the concept of basal stimulation in nursing care. Certain beneficial effects of this concept on the perception of the surrounding world in a wide range of patients / clients have been known. The paper in hand focuses on the use of basal stimulation in patients with Alzheimer's disease. Objective: The purpose of the survey was to determine the opinion of family members on the possibility of using basal stimulation in social service facilities for their loved ones and the family members\u00B4 interest to participate in the concept, and subsequently describe the soothing effect of somatic stimulation on the selected service users suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Method: The research method consisted of a documentation analysis of clients with Alzheimer's disease. On its basis, several short case studies were created. Furthermore, interviews were carried out with the key personnel and relatives of the users involved in the research. Results: The results show that two of the three family members interviewed have a strong interest in obtaining further information related to basal stimulation and its application in their relatives\u00B4 aftercare. However, not one of the family members involved dares to apply the concept (soothing somatic stimulation), even though they are familiar with it, when taking care of their relatives at home or in aftercare."@en . .
