"Paper describes the development of control software for a model of heating system with time delay. This model has been created at our institute as a teaching aid for courses which deal with automatic process control. The model representing a time delay system is based on variable flow of heat-transferring fluid and air through a heat exchanger which serves as heat consuming appliance. Model is controlled from PC using a data acquisition module CTRL V3 connected via RS 232 serial interface. The control software was developed in Matlab with regard to easy use and possible modifications by the students. It is possible to measure transfer function of the model plant and to control it using PS, PSD or general linear controller using this software. All relevant parameters can be easily configured from the graphical interface of the control program. All measured data are visualized in real-time in the main window of the program.
