"This contribution deals with program equipment portability created in assembly language between incompatible central processing units with focus on 8 bit microcontrollers Motorola HC11 and HC08 family, which are very frequently used in process control applications. Although both families of microcontrollers are based on the same CPU design as their predecessor M6800, they are not software compatible due to some different CPU optimizations. On the basis of instruction sets analysis of the both microcontrollers software utility for program transformation was created. Function of the software converter is fully controlled by instruction dictionary which defines each instruction replacement.
