"The existence of a time delay in input-output relations is a common property of many technological processes. Plants with a time delay often cannot be controlled using conventional controllers designed without consideration for a presence of the time delay. The control responses obtained by such contlollers then tend to destabilize the closed-loop system. There exists various ways how to control such systems. The method presented in this paper is based on approximations of the time delay in transfer functions of stable and unstable first order time delay systems and on polynomial approach to the controller design.
