Together with testing radiation shielding protective equipment in the RAC the attenuation of gamma rays, penetrating the samples, was tested via different radionuclide point sources, using a testing bench, which enables to set defined geometries of the source, the sample, the detector and the collimators separately. The spectra were measured by hand \u2013 held spectrometers HPGe FALCON 5000 or INSPECTOR 1000 with a scintillation probe IPROL-1 (producer of both spectrometers: CANBERRA, USA). Dose rate was measured by a radiometer FH 40 G-10 with a detachable probe FHZ 612-10 as well. For each sample and each radionuclide dose rate decrease, shielding ratio and energy dependence of linear and mass attenuation coefficients were determined. The results for different geometries and different methods of measurement (dose rate decrease and gamma rays attenuation for corresponding energy) were compared."@en .
