. . "One of the present hot topics of nuclear engineering is the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel. This project is focussing on the study of verification of the possibility to decontaminate spent solvents issuing the TODGA (N,N,N',N'-tetra(n-octyl)diglycolamide) process. This paper describes the verification and characterisation of X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry as the analytical method,for the analysis of metal-ions containing spent solvents. The sources of uncertainties were identified and quantified and the method was demonstrated to be highly repeatable and to fully meet the requirements. Broad range of sorbents has been tested for the removal of ruthenium and yttrium from contaminated organic phase, so called %22spent solvent%22. Based on the evaluation of mass distribution coeficients Dg, the most prospective sorbents turned out to be Amberlyst A26 (strongly basic, anionic, macroreticular, polymeric resin) and Fe-EDA-SAMMS (Fe(III) ethylenediamine on mesoporous silica). For Amberlyst A26, the kinetics of ruthenium sorption were found to be relatively slow - the equilibrium was achieved after more than 4 hours of contact of the resin with the solution."@en .
