"High strength steel sheets are used in automobile industry for reinforcement parts and influence safety level of the car crew. Crack propagation in the material of the reinforcement part during impact or crash test can be influenced by spot welds present in the construction. Specimens for modified Charpy impact test were manufactured from four different high strength steel sheets. Spot welds were prepared in the vicinity of the notch root. Dependence of impact energy on spot weld position was measured. Changes in microstructure were observed using qualitative metallographic analysis and microhardness measurement.
