"The research is focused on monitoring the degradation properties of corrosion-proof materials often used in the power, chemical, and food-processing industry. Six very noble, highly alloyed materials are under study, namely: austenitic stainless steels Uranus SB8 and Uranus B26, duplex stainless steels Uranus 45N and Uranus 52N+, nickel alloys Nicrofer 3127 hMo and Nicrofer 5923 hMo. The investigation deals especially with stress corrosion cracking (SCC). The experimental programme consists of: 1) Slow Strain Rate Testing (SSRT). The resistivity against mechanical stress and aggressive media (CaCl2, CaCl2+FeCl3 etc.) is monitored. For comparison, the same tests are carried out in inert medium, i.e., glycerol. Failure mechanisms, corrosion mechanisms, degradation types and processes are studied. 2) Stress Corrosion Testing.
