"The experimental programme was focused on monitoring the corrosion properties of two types of stainless high alloyed duplex steels: X2CrNiMoN 22-5-3 (Uranus 45N) and X2CrNiMoCuN 25-6-3 (Uranus 52N+). These alloys are often used in the power, chemical, and food-processing industry. The aim of the study is to verify the most important characteristics quantifying the corrosion resistivity of the steels especially in the media containing chloride ions. The metallographic analysis by means of light and scanning electron microscopy was carried out. By the slow strain rate test, the resistivity against mechanical stress and aggressive mediums was studied. Two types of corrosion mediums (CaCl2, CaCl2+FeCl3) were suggested. For the comparison, the same tests were realised in the inert medium – glycerol. Time and load to the failure are the main output parameters for the evaluating criteria. The investigation was completed by fractographic analysis of failed specimen fractures."@en .
