Experimental study was focused on the fatigue crack growth in wing spar. The efficiency of full-scale tests can be considerably increased by the fractographic reconstitution of fatigue crack growth history. Precision and exactness of the results strongly depend on the volume and the quality of input information. Above all, a priori knowledge of the relation between macroscopic crack growth rate and striation spacing plays a key role. Synthesis of macroscopic data with the fractographic ones gives detailed information on the real course of the fatigue process (e.g., time sequence of individual fatigue cracks, their interaction etc.)."@en .
