"The paper deals with the design of an optical part of a WDM transceiver based on the circle volume holographic grating triplexer (VHGT) topology. The work is focused on detail description of the bidirectional micro-optical insertion system, especially on the transmit characteristics of the optical part of triplexer. This micro-optical distribution system is consisted of collimating cylindrical lenses and the VHGT filter. The topology is described by ray matrices equations, simulation in Beam Propagation software and optically measured. Considering simulation and measurement results the influence of parasitic characteristics on transceiver performance is estimated. The paper also deals with limits and conditions of the laser beam focus into the multimode and single-mode input/output optical fiber. In the future the optical part of the WDM transceiver will be transformed into planar lightwave circuit (PLC).
