"In May 2010, the European Commission and the Council approved an update of 2010/31/EU directive - the Energy Performance of buildings EPBD II. Among other things, this amendment defines obligation for zero energy consumption building in the EU's from the 31 December 2020. Photovoltaic panels are an essential part of passive and zero buildings, those they help meet the strict criteria of building's energy performance. The aim of this paper is to compare parameters of different types of photovoltaic panels in terms of life cycle assessment (LCA). The aim is to assess their material and energy costs, including impacts on the environment. The analysis was conducted using program SimaPro and Eco-invent database. For greater clarity, the panels are divided into systems of large and small performances. In the paper, panels with different technologies are compared, e.g. monocrystalline, polycrystalline and amorphous silicon, CIS and CdTe. LCA methodology is closely related to the methodology of LCC (Life Cycle Costing), adding the current commodity price both methodologies can be merged into a single model." .
