"In this paper we report an on-going effort about a dialog approach to several key application areas. The application areas cover modelling, control and monitoring in a sensor network environment. Each application area consists of a system of sensing and processing units. On top of these units is a dialog system that facilitates communication between units and users. From the dialog point of view the system must be built starting from components that are able to represent simple meanings without the human user.
